Foxa Update - June 16th 2023 Update

Writer: Foxxy/JasmineFoxxy/Jasmine

Updated: Jul 2, 2023

Hello everyone! Foxa here once more with your bi monthly update! Lets quickly go ahead and discuss today's art calendar update!

Seems mostly the same ay? Wait a second, what's that I hear? "Abapap, Foxa, I see something fishy here... the Project Rise Storyboard was pushed back from June-July to July-September! Splain yourself!". Well, yes, indeed that is the case. I have decided to push it back, and as well as this expand the expected time frame on the calendar. How about I explain why that is the case first, then move onto the other tasks.

Project Rise Storyboard

So, what is with the delay end expanded time frame? Why was this decision made? Simply put, I made this decision as I felt as though trying to push yet ANOTHER task onto the calendar this close to the current tasks was just, simply a bad idea. This isn't even mentioning how much I am already doing and going to be doing this month. With school, The Mainland, The Sewers, The July 1st video, and several others needing to be done eventually, it's just simply gonna be too much to handle all at once along side the Project Rise Storyboard, so in order to make it easier for myself, I decided to delay this to July.

The reason for the expanded time-frame was just simply me not wanting to rush myself with the Storyboard, and to really take my time with it so I could focus on more important tasks. It just felt like a smarter decision, hence why I made it in the first place. This shouldn't effect production much though, and there will still be a good amount of time and effort on it!

Mainland Overhaul

Currently, the Mainland's terrain shape is almost done! Just some small work needs to be done before I do the big task of decorating the rest of the Mainland with the new props, as well as finalizing any remaining models. At the moment, this is going to be my number 1 task going forward this month, and until its done, I likely will pause work on any other materials, excluding School Work, as that is always my number 1 priority.

The Mainland is closer to completion, it just needs a bit more time and I will hopefully have it done, or at least mostly done by the end of this month! I'll of course not be showing it off once it's done, and will immediately be jumping to work on The Sewers, but once The Sewers and Outpost MA-14 are done, you will get to experience a little preview of all three levels, including the Mainland, in the upcoming trailer!

Website Major Update 2.0

Not much has been happening in this front, but I've made a good amount of progress on the website's contents, especially with the Commissions and Purchasbles page. Hopefully more can be done in the near future and this will be completed by the end of next month, as was expected. My apologies for not sharing too much news here, I will hopefully be able to share more next month as more progress has been made. Thank you for your understanding.

The Sewers

So, not much has happened in this field, but I thought I'd quickly go over The Sewers and what I am gonna do once I begin working on it sometime near the end of this month. Once I begin to work on it, I am gonna start off by taking the current tiles and reorganizing them, getting them solidified in their design before porting them all over to Unreal Engine 4 for testing and size adjustments. Once I am satisfied, I will then begin to work on the props, as well as the detailed blockouts for the environment itself.

Once these are all done, and all the prop and environment blockouts are done, I will implement the blockout versions into Unreal Engine, and from there begin to tinker around with the lighting, visuals, materials, and more. Meanwhile, within my modeling software, Blender, I will begin to add more details to the environment models and begin giving proper detail to the prop blockouts, finalizing their designs before adding in their details.

Hopefully by Late July this will be completely done, and I will move to the final stage of implementation of all of the assets, adding in any final details, and adding in any remaining stuff that has yet to be added. From there, by the time August rolls around, I should have the level finally complete (along with Commissions and my Patreon) and I can begin to work on Outpost MA-14!

Conclusion

Keeping this blog post short so I can get right back to work, but as you can see, a good amount of work has been done over the past while. I'm very excited to show off more at some point in the near future, but for now, its back to work for me! Have a good day everyone! I'll be excited to see you once again on the 1st of July in video form! Ciao!
